er... many words in english come from German, Frence, etc... etc... names, so I'm not sure what your upset about?

Since its not a mirror image of yourself its not a fitting name for it.

Yah uh...if you don't want foreign words in the English language you're SOL big time.

English is the largest borrower of words out of ANY language.

Pretty much every 'english' word derives from French, Latin, etc.

In fact I dont' think there is a sole word that belongs to English alone.

English, Latin, German, French all have the same roots. So there are words which only exists in one of those language, but many words share common bases.

And Doppelganger is a legal english word, like Kindergarden or Hamburger is. Funny thing: Hamburger is mostly considered a typical english word

There is no need to be so scared of foreign words as the french are: they even got a commission to make up french words for foreign words that want to intrude the french language...

To be fair, the germanic languages are considered distinct from the romance languages. They share roots in the proto-indo-european, but that's going back a LONG ways. English and German are closer, sharing the proto-west-germanic ancestor, while latin, french and the related language are from the italic roots, shared with romaninan, catalan, spanish, portugese. We use a lot of words of latin origins despite being a germanic language.

Hah, someone that actually knows something about languages

English is a germanic language, but blame William the Conquerer for corrupting it with a bunch of his silly french and making us call "beef" (from the french) something different from "cow" (from the german), among other things

There's also an MVP (boss monster) in Ragnarok online called doppelganger, never really got that though since the only ghostly imitation that is is of the knight class but oh well..

Epinephrine is exactly right about English being a Germanic language, another group distinct from the Romance languages (Latin, French, Spanish, etc.), however both are in the main group of Indo-European languages. As it is, English and German are more related grammatically than anything else. Many words are similar (father, vater), but as the two languages share such an old origin, they both diverged, and many of the "pure English" words may sound nothing like German words, but may have actually evolved from the same words long in the past. Much Latin got introduced into English through things like the Roman occupation (which lasted half a century, I believe) of "England," the Norman conquest of England (who spoke French normally, but used Latin for governmental and church-related things), and finally the Renaissance, where a huge interest in the Roman Empire caused many scholars to go back to Latin.

But, that aside, English assimilates many words from other languages. And yes, "doppelganger" is an English word. "Doppelgänger" is German. It may have a German etymology, but again it is estimated that over 90% of English words were taken from other languages at some point, so if you really want "pure English," be prepared to forget most of the language.

Oohh he was hell to fight.

When he used two-hand-quicken, his attack speed becomes faster than your flinching rate when you get hit. So basically, whoever's tanking him can't do anything at all. Luckily, I was able to just sit back and cast stuff on him, being a wizard and all.

It would be good, just before you fight your Doppelganger, that it turned into an exact layout of your characters form. taking on all aspects of appearance, down to the very fine thread on your guild cape. Also your characters name (confusing i know, but it would be great)

What would be alot of fun, for a future quest or something. is taking on a complete doppelganger group of your party :-)
